Robertson Road, Brighton

Conversion of a Victorian era business premises to create three family houses. The existing building had the appearance of three adjoining shops with accommodation above, each had a shopfront with bay window and gable over. Internally the building functioned as one office building and so the subdivision into three dwellings involved creating party walls, stairs, services and separate entrances. The existing shopfronts were replaced with bay windows at ground floor to match those at first floor. The completed building appears as three similar terraced houses that sit comfortably in the streetscape. The rear elevation of the building is more irregular, and the internal layouts vary in size and arrangement although they each have open plan family rooms at lower ground floor opening into gardens, lounges at ground floor and two floors of bedrooms above.
