John was project architect with MLDG for the master planning and detail design of this comprehensive redevelopment of a prime riverside site adjacent to the historic Chertsey Bridge. The project provides 199 new dwellings including luxury apartments and mixed tenure affordable housing within a layout designed to maximise visual permeability and riverside pedestrian and cycle access. The curvilinear plan shapes aid the relationship of internal spaces to the riverside and help to achieve a softening of the urban edge. The introduction of recognisable maritime references in the detailing assists the creation of a distinctive contemporary riverside character.
