Somers Heath School, Essex – John Whiting Architecture

As project architect with PTEA John oversaw the conversion of a former primary school to a school for children with special needs. The 1960’s CLASP system buildings were stripped back to slab and steel frame, in-filled with insulated timber frame wall panels and clad with composite panels and aluminium windows. A central block of shared facilities forms the hub of the layout with dedicated wings for each tutor group.
